COVID- 19 Testing FAQ’s

COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Most infected people will develop mild to moderate symptoms.

Common symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Tiredness
  • Dry cough

Some People may experience:

  • Aches & Pains
  • Nasal congestion
  • Runny nose
  • Diarrhoea
  • Sore throat

On average it takes 5–6 days from when someone is infected with the virus for symptoms to show, however it can take up to 14 days.

People with mild symptoms who are otherwise healthy should self-isolate. Seek medical attention if you have a fever, a cough and difficulty breathing.

These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually .Some people will be asymptomatic.

As per guidelines, if you develop the acute onset of fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or shortness of breath you should visit your nearest health facility and the doctor will decide if you need to be tested for COVID-19, depending upon your history of travel to affected countries or contact with any suspects. Pre operative cases also can be done if prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner.

  • Patient Referral Form for COVID-19 (SARS-CoV2) completely filled. (Patient referral form will be provided by Medivision or alternatively it can be downloaded from our website www.medivision.in)
  • Copy of any Government ID
  • The test cannot be conducted without these details and documents.

Any one of the below mentioned

  • Nasopharyngeal and Oropharyngeal swab. One hour fasting before the procedure in preffered.
  • Nasopharyngeal aspirate or nasal wash
  • Bronchoalveolar lavage
  • Sputum

Real Time PCR, as recommended by ICMR., Government of India

We will share all patients’ reports with the defined Government authorities or as per the latest guidelines laid down by ICMR, Government of India . The reports will be shared after informing the government authorities or as per the latest guidelines of ICMR, Govt of India.

Within 12-24 hours after receiving the sample in the lab. Report will be emailed to the given id and a physical copy can be collected from sample collection centre.
